GUI Applications

Manjikaze includes a carefully selected set of graphical applications to enhance your development workflow. These applications are divided into essential/recommended tools that are installed by default and optional applications that you can choose to install based on your needs.

DBeaver

DBeaver is a universal database tool that connects to virtually any database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Oracle, MongoDB, etc.). Allows viewing, editing data and database structures, as well as exporting to various formats.

Slack

Slack is our chat communication platform for team and client collaboration.

Flameshot

Flameshot is a screenshot tool with annotation capabilities. Default shortcut: Super + Print.

Bruno

Bruno is an open-source alternative to Postman for API testing. Stores collections locally in formats that can be committed to git.

Gnome Sushi

Gnome Sushi provides quick file previews in the file manager by pressing the spacebar.

PDF Arranger

PDF Arranger allows for basic PDF manipulation: merging, splitting, rotating, and rearranging pages.

Xournal++

Xournal++ is for PDF annotation, form filling, and adding signatures to documents.

Cursor

Cursor is an AI-enhanced code editor based on VSCode.

Optional Applications

These applications are not installed by default but can be added through the Manjikaze menu:

Signal

Signal is a secure messaging application with end-to-end encryption.

SmartGit / GitKraken

Git clients with graphical interfaces:

  • SmartGit: Simple Git client supporting major platforms (GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket)
  • GitKraken: Git client with visual commit graph and merge tools

Spotify

Spotify is the world's most popular streaming music service, and the Linux application is as good as they can make an app (which isn't saying much, but we take what we can get).

Dropbox

Dropbox is a way to sync files between machines while keeping a backup in the cloud.

Kubernetes tools

To manage Kubernetes clusters, Manjikaze includes the following tools:

  • kubectl: Command-line interface for Kubernetes
  • helm: Package manager for Kubernetes
  • eksctl: CLI for Amazon EKS (Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service)
  • lens-bin: Lens IDE for Kubernetes

Installing Optional Applications

To install optional applications:

  1. Launch Manjikaze from the terminal:

    bash
    manjikaze
  2. Navigate to "Setup" > "Choose optional apps"

  3. Select the applications you wish to install

  4. Follow the prompts to complete installation

Most GUI applications can be found in the application menu after installation, or you can launch them from the terminal by typing their name (e.g., dbeaver, flameshot, signal).
